Amédée De Murcia aka Somaticae is a regular of our label, first recording industrial music and techno under this moniker (his first properly distributed album, Catharsis, back in 2013), then powerful digital noise (Electricité, part of the IPX CD series) and a bunch of outstanding tapes on some of the best French DIY labels toying with the format (Fougère, Tanzprocess). Like France Sauvage who recently released on the label, Amédée De Murcia is someone who has and still is touring extensively and playing every cave, bar, garage, house in the French underground and Eastern Europe, alone or with one of his many bands (OD Bongo, Vinci, etc.).

This record manages to encapsulate the spirit of his semi-improvised live sets of this past two years. Reminiscent of Pan Sonic at their most techno, and of the ghost in the machine of Toshimaru Nakamura’s No Input Mixing Board, it’s one of the tensest as well as explosive records we’ve heard lately, just one big burst of raw pulsating energy. It’s all kicks, bass and noises, always on the edge, grapping your ears for a bit more than half an hour and leaving you exhausted and blooming.

The making of the record has been inspired by and is dedicated to Amesys, the French company responsible for surveillance software technologies used by several dictatorships around the world, which story is summed up by Somaticae on the back cover. The artwork designed by Liquid Test Press, attempts at representing the operation of censorship and repression resulting from this too discreet surveillance software. If this records makes any profit past initial costs, they will go to fund the activities of collectives against technological warfare and surveillance (struggles against the deployment of facial recognition; civil liberties advocacy).

Amédée De Murcia alias Somaticae est un habitué de notre label. Il a enregistré sous ce pseudonyme son premier album correctement distribué, Catharsis, en 2013, entre musique industrielle et techno, puis un puissant disque de noise digital (Electricité, qui fait partie de la série de CD IPX) ainsi qu’un tas de cassettes exceptionnelles sur certains des meilleurs labels de bricolage français (Fougère, Tanzprocess). Comme France Sauvage que nous venons d’accueillir sur le label, Amédée De Murcia joue et continue de jouer dans à peu près tous les bars, garages, caves et grottes de France et d'Europe de l'Est, sous ce pseudo avec ses différents groupes (OD Bongo, Vinci, etc.)

Amesys parvient à résumer l'esprit du live semi-improvisé que Somaticae a pratiqué ces deux dernières années. Réminiscent de Pan Sonic dans ce qu’ils ont de plus techno, et du fantôme dans la machine façon No Input Mixing Board de Toshimaru Nakamura, c'est l'un des enregistrements les plus tendus et explosifs que nous ayons entendus récemment. Juste une grosse décharge continue d'énergie brute et de pulsations, tout en kicks, basses et larsens, toujours sur la brèche, saisissant vos oreilles pendant un peu plus d'une demi-heure pour finir par vous laisser épuisé et épanoui.

La réalisation du disque a été inspirée par et est dédiée à Amesys, la société française responsable des technologies logicielles de surveillance utilisées par plusieurs dictatures à travers le monde, dont vous pourrez l’histoire synthétisée par Somaticae au dos du disque. L’artwork de Liquid Test Press tente de donner une representation visuelle à la répression dûe au travail forcément discret de ce type de logiciel. Si ce disque fait des bénéfices au-delà des coûts initiaux, ils iront financer les activités des collectifs contre la guerre technologique et la surveillance (lutte contre le déploiement de la reconnaissance faciale; défense des libertés civiles).
